Disney released today in cooperation with Facebook Messenger an intelligent, AI-powered chatbot. Users can chat with a Miss Piggy character through Facebook Messenger and have a simple conversation.

Disney teamed up with Imperson, a company that creates chatbots from fictional characters like Tony Stark or — in this case — Miss Piggy from The Muppet Show. The user can either visit her Facebook Page or use Facebook Messenger to have a conversation with her.

The first step towards AI-powered Facebook conversations was made publicly by David Marcus in August 2015 when Facebook released M, its AI chatbot which is trained and supervised by people.
Companies can be available 24/7 for their customers
Companies offering customer communication through messengers can be available whenever their customers want to interact with them. Thus, enabling developers to create bots on top of Facebook’s messenger platform is a crucial part of Facebook’s strategy of becoming a dominant player in the messenger business.

Facebook Messenger with Uber integration
Later in 2015, Facebook released another use case for enriched messages on its Messenger for the Business platform: Users can order Uber rides straight from their messenger through an interactive embedded panel.
